I’m New Here

What to Expect at 2nd & 3rd Rathfriland

Visiting a new church can be intimidating: What should I wear? Where do I park? Where do I sit? Where do my children go? We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to feel completely comfortable when you visit. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

When and where are the services?

Sunday mornings begin at 11:30am and usually last the hour. The worship is a blend of traditional and contemporary. We’ve two locations: Loughbrickland Road (2nd) and Newry St (3rd). On the last Sunday of the month you’ll get us in Second Meeting House, all others we’ll be in Third. Both churches are situated quite close to each other, just a few hundred meters in fact.

Sunday evenings are from September to May on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. The service begins at 6:30pm and again is about an hour. We meet in our church hall, situated across from Third church on Newry St.

Midweek begins at 7:30pm and is held in the Welcome Area at the front of Third. In all of our services you are free to sit where you like.

What should I wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are thrilled that you’re joining us and want you to be more focused on the service than what you’re wearing. Our people are a mix of “Sunday Best” and casual. We hope you’ll fit in no matter how you dress.

Where should I park?

Parking for Third is in the church car park just opposite the church. For Second the church car park is directly in front of the Church

Where do my children go?

Children are very important to us, therefore we have programs, not only on Sunday but throughout the week. For those visiting on Sunday, Sunday School runs in our church halls from 10:30 to 11:15am. During the sermon there’s also children’s church for children aged from P1-P5. There is a supervised crèche during the service.

Am I expected to put money in the offering?

If you are visiting with us, we don’t expect you to put money in the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. If you consider 2nd & 3rd Rathfriland your church home, then giving, like every other aspect of our lives, I trust you will consider part of your worship to God.

I have hearing and/or visual problems.

For those who are hearing impaired, we have the loop system installed in both of our venues. For those who are visually impaired, we have projection screens in both locations
